Keystone XL Supported, Supermajority Rejected and Climate Change Ignored in US Senate

BOO: Senate Republicans and centrist Democrats appear to form a clear majority against fees on emissions from oil and coal producers, power plants and other sources.

YEAH: But none had a response to Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse’s (D-R.I.): “We ignore carbon pollution at our peril, and we have subsidized it long enough. It is past time to wake up from our sleepwalking,”

BOO: to both of PA’s US Senators Casey and Toomey, who voted against protection of our climate and indigenous peoples, and private land rights: “On Friday, the Senate went on record, 62 to 37, in support of the Keystone Pipeline, which has been held up by the Obama administration because of environmental concerns.”

YEAH: to Casey for voting against Sen. Roy Blunt’s (R-Mo.) anti-carbon tax amendment, requiring that any future carbon tax legislation requires 60 votes to pass. That measure failed.
