Before you give credence to repeated, anonymous claims that “there is no proof gas drilling has harmed water” please watch just this one video, of one 80-year old guy. The video is excellently done by my friend, Scott Cannon, who has graciously provided it for my reuse.
The gentleman appears very credible, his identity is shown, all is well documented. He seems to have done every, single thing I reasonably call “due diligence” from a private citizen of limited means. He went through every “proper” channel first, and in the most cooperative order: driller first, then DEP, Rep, Senator, DEP Secretary finally holding company/permit holder.
He’s been on the same well for two generations, and no problems until the day drilling started at 2 different wells each within a half mile of his home.
While “there is no proof” what would or COULD you do in his situation. And where are his representatives?
In Scott Cannon’s words: “This is a perfect example of how the DEP works. This man’s water turned black the day drilling started 1,200 feet from his home. The DEP tells him they don’t know what caused it, but tells him that it is not caused by drilling activities. If they don’t know, how do they know that?”
