Another Reason to be Rid of Governor Corbett in PA: 2015 Anticipated Healthcare Premium Increases

Just out: 2015 anticipated healthcare premium increases.  For the USA, the increases are anticipated to average either 4% (McKinsey) or 6% (PriceWaterhouse Coopers).

Recall that Governor Corbett spent the whole first year of ACA fighting the Fed for a waiver.  This allowed for CorbettCare, his alternate expansion model, which includes premiums.  PA’s 2015 anticipated healthcare premium increase of over 15% is as bad as only KS and LA. Neither of which expanded Medicaid at all.

Apparently Corbett’s reinvention of the wheel was what we all suspected it might be: a huge waste of time. Not only did the Governor’s constituents sacrifice the loss of tremendous federal reimbursement for the year it took his Administration to fight Obama’s ACA. It appears we now continue to suffer, with multiples the US anticipated average premium increases.

Please remember this, when the premiums go up, and everyone is screaming at newly-elected Governor Tom Wolf.
